Jared Goff Uses 1 Word To Describe Aidan Hutchinson In Offseason

The Detroit Lions have a huge chip on their shoulders right now.

They lost their top two assistant coaches, and they failed to win a single playoff game despite having the best record in the NFC.

Notably, they also lost their best pass rusher midway through the season.

That’s why Aidan Hutchinson is thirsty for revenge.

When asked about the young defensive end, Lions quarterback Jared Goff had a strong choice of words to describe him (via Eric Woodyard):

“‘Monster,’ is the term that Lions quarterback Jared Goff used to describe Hutchinson this summer. While competing against him and the defense early on in camp, Goff has noticed him ‘flying,’” Woodyard wrote.

Hutchinson is one of the rising stars of the league.

He can wreak havoc and disrupt everything around him at the line of scrimmage and power his way to the opposition’s quarterback.

His athleticism, quick burst, strength, and fine moves make him a force to be reckoned with.

Even so, it will be quite interesting to see how this team will get by now that Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn aren’t around.

Head coach Dan Campbell is a great motivator, but his decision-making and game management have often raised doubts, and not having his two confidants trying to regulate him and hold him back at times could lead to disaster.

Still, this team is absolutely stacked with talent at every position.

More importantly, they all seem to be on the same page in terms of determination and wanting to put the world on notice.

They know they fell short and didn’t live up to their potential last season, and they will look to make a statement right out of the gate.

Dolphins Rookie Is Drawing Buzz As ‘Biggest Steal’ Of Draft

For years, the Miami Dolphins‘ quarterback situation has been a subject of debate.

While the numbers with Tua Tagovailoa have been mostly solid, some believe he doesn’t have what it takes to lead the team to success.

There was even some buzz about this potentially being his final year as a starter if the team didn’t win a playoff game.

That might put some eyes on Quinn Ewers.

As shown by Dov Kleiman on X, the rookie seventh-round pick might end up being the steal of the 2025 NFL Draft.

The jury is still out on Ewers, but he’s also been quite a polarizing prospect for years now.

Not so long ago, he was in the mix to be the first quarterback off the board in his class.

But injuries and some red flags about his technique made him plummet.

He has a strong arm and plenty of talent, but he needs to clean up plenty of things in terms of footwork and mechanics.

Having him sit for a year and train with NFL trainers could be just what he needs to improve in those aspects and finally be the superstar some thought he would be when he took the reins of the Texas Longhorns’ offense.

As for the Dolphins, some believe that head coach Mike McDaniel might be on the hot seat.

And after such a disappointing season in 2024, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see this team change directions at multiple positions after this season, even at quarterback.

Dan Orlovsky Reveals Harsh Truth About Caleb Williams

For the second time in as many years, the Chicago Bears enter the season with plenty of hype, hopes, and expectations.

Bringing in Ben Johnson to coach Caleb Williams might turn out to be a master move.

Nevertheless, former NFL QB Dan Orlovsky believes things will take some time.

Talking on ESPN, the former backup pointed out that Williams might need years to get a hold of Johnson’s offense.

“He has to erase a decade’s worth of playing a certain style of football and rebuild habits. It is going to take years. It’s just gonna take time,” Orlovsky said.

Williams has the potential and the tools to be the best quarterback in the game, and he showed glimpses of great play, but he’s not a flawless prospect.

Of course, it’s also hard to blame him for last year’s struggles, since Matt Eberflus and his coaching staff didn’t do anything to put him in a position to succeed.

His offensive line crumbled under pressure on every dropback, and the offensive concepts were either outdated or flat-out wrong.

Now, things should be much better in that regard.

The Bears went to great lengths to bolster their offensive line, and they’ve now added one of the most creative offensive coordinators in the game to fix their woes.

Still, just like Orlovsky said, perhaps the fans should put the brakes on a little and tame their expectations.

Even so, Williams was the No. 1 pick for a reason, so it wouldn’t be the first time we see a young quarterback bounce back after a somewhat disappointing first season in the league to take the bull by the horns in year two.

Insider Reveals What He’s Hearing About Colts’ QB Battle

The Indianapolis Colts find themselves in the middle of a genuine quarterback battle that could define their season.

Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones are locked in a competition where neither player has established a clear separation through the early stages of training camp.

The organization likely hopes Richardson can seize the starting role. As a former top-five draft pick, his development remains crucial to the franchise’s long-term plans.

But the path forward won’t come easily for the young quarterback. NFL insider Cameron Wolfe recently provided insight into how the competition has unfolded.

“I spoke with someone in the Colts building today who said Anthony Richardson had his best day of training camp so far. Best of all the quarterbacks. He made quick reads, He was efficient, he took care of the ball, and ultimately showed why he could be the quarterback of the future. But, it is a true quarterback competition here with him and Daniel Jones. He and Daniel Jones have both been up and down, but this day kind of showed the spark, the hope of why Anthony Richardson was the guy they drafted in the top five some years ago, and they’re splitting it every day,” Wolfe said on The Insiders.

Richardson’s early camp struggles stemmed partly from shoulder soreness that limited his throwing capacity.

The gradual return to full-speed passes became necessary since he hadn’t thrown live to receivers in an extended period.

The coaching staff understands that staying healthy represents Richardson’s biggest challenge given his injury history.

Recent signs point toward growing confidence in his physical condition.

Richardson dropped approximately 10 pounds to reach 240, demonstrating his commitment to durability throughout a full season.

Meanwhile, Jones refuses to surrender the position without a fight.

The veteran quarterback has performed well enough to keep the competition legitimate.

Both players continue receiving equal opportunities to prove their worth.

The Colts appear content to allow this battle to play out naturally rather than forcing a premature decision.

Young Seahawks QB Is Impressing In Training Camp

The Seattle Seahawks may have found something special in their third-round quarterback selection.

Jalen Milroe has turned heads during the early stages of training camp with displays of arm talent.

While Sam Darnold remains entrenched as the starter, Milroe’s work in practice sessions has generated the kind of buzz that suggests his development timeline might be accelerated.

The former Crimson Tide signal caller has shown flashes of the elite physical tools that made him an attractive draft target.

Seahawks reporter Brian Nemhauser shared details of one particularly impressive practice session that highlighted Milroe’s competitive nature.

“Jalen Milroe had a heck of a practice. He was making so many plays with his arm that he did pushups on the sideline after completing a 20 yard pass to Ricky White because the throw forced White to dive for it,” Nemhauser wrote on X.

That moment captured the intensity Milroe has brought to Seattle’s facility.

The rookie quarterback possesses arguably the strongest arm in this year’s draft class.

His rushing ability has drawn comparisons to dynamic quarterbacks like Cam Newton and Lamar Jackson.

Beyond the physical attributes, Milroe has impressed coaches with his approach to preparation.

He arrives early to study film and has maintained a team-first mentality that resonates well in the locker room.

The path to meaningful playing time remains steep for the rookie.

Drew Lock currently holds the backup role behind Darnold.

Even if injury creates an opportunity, Milroe would likely see limited action in his first season.

Still, the Seahawks may find creative ways to utilize his dual-threat capabilities.

Special packages that take advantage of his mobility could provide a glimpse of his potential while he continues developing as a pocket passer.

The New England Patriots continue building their roster under first-year head coach Mike Vrabel.

The team held workouts for four defensive players on Friday as they search for depth and competition throughout training camp.

The Patriots brought in cornerback Keydrain Calligan, linebackers Jimmy Ciarlo and K.J. Cloyd, and safety Kedrick Whitehead for evaluation, according to KPRC2’s Aaron Wilson.

Calligan stands out among the group after earning 2024 first-team All-Southland honors at Southeastern Louisiana.

The Houston Texans signed him earlier this year before releasing him in June.

His physical style and ball skills caught attention in college, along with his special teams contributions.

Ciarlo brings military discipline from his time at Army.

The New York Jets previously had him on their roster before waiving him with an injury designation last August.

Coaches have praised his motor and leadership qualities, viewing him as a developmental piece with special teams potential.

Cloyd has bounced between practice squads with multiple teams, including the Vikings, Giants, and Broncos.

He recorded 42 tackles and 6.5 tackles for loss during his final college season, split between Louisville and Miami.

Denver signed him to a futures contract before releasing him in May.

Whitehead earned recognition as the UFL’s 2025 Special Teams Player of the Year while playing for the Michigan Panthers.

He logged 118 special teams snaps and made All-UFL honors as a cornerback.

The workouts reflect New England’s approach under Vrabel and defensive coordinator Steve Belichick.

They continue evaluating young talent to complement established players like safety Kyle Dugger and linebacker Ja’Whaun Bentley.

None of the players have signed contracts yet.

The tryouts represent part of the Patriots’ broader effort to create competition and add depth as training camp progresses.

Insider Reveals Wild Training Camp Stat About Jalen Hurts

The Philadelphia Eagles returned to the NovaCare Complex with championship rings still fresh on their fingers.

Just months after dismantling the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX, the defending champions have shifted into preparation mode for what could be an even more dominant campaign.

QB Jalen Hurts has emerged as the early story of training camp.

His precision through five practices has caught the attention of those watching closely.

Eagles insider Eliot Shorr-Parks recently broke down what he has witnessed from the Super Bowl MVP.

“It is absurd, the amount of passes Jalen Hurts is completing. I’ve covered a lot of training camp practices last year, obviously, he set the record with 305 throws without an interception. But what really stands out this year is, he just completes everything he throws. I’ve seen him practice five times now since they won the Super Bowl back in February. He’s 86 of 93. It’s like 93% completion percentage,” Shorr-Parks said.

Shorr-Parks believes Hurts has developed a deeper understanding of the offensive system that goes beyond simple execution.

While many might dismiss some completions as routine throws, that type of efficiency often separates championship teams from pretenders.

Hurts appears to have reached a new level of field recognition.

He diagnoses defensive looks before the snap and has answers ready regardless of what opposing coordinators present.

The quarterback is no longer just reacting but anticipating.

This development could reshape how Philadelphia approaches offensive game planning.

With Hurts operating at such a high completion rate, the Eagles may lean more heavily into their passing attack than in previous seasons.

The franchise enters 2025 with legitimate Super Bowl repeat aspirations.

A retooled defense complements an offense loaded with playmakers around their franchise quarterback.

If Hurts maintains this early momentum through the regular season, Philadelphia could establish itself as the team to beat in the NFC.

Raiders Add Player After Releasing Christian Wilkins

The Las Vegas Raiders recently made a shocking move, releasing defensive tackle Christian Wilkins just one year into his massive four-year contract.

Wilkins was released with the designation of terminated vested veteran, and though he seemed to be ready to return following rehab for the foot injury he suffered last season, the Raiders are attempting to void the remaining guaranteed money on his contract after he opted not to have a second surgery.

The Raiders moved quickly to replace Wilkins, claiming defensive tackle Keondre Coburn off waivers from the Tennessee Titans.

“No surprise, he’s a good player. Good chance for Coburn to get playing time in Vegas after they released Christian Wilkins,” Justin M of The Draft Network wrote on X.

Coburn was a sixth-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs and got extended playing time for Tennessee last season, appearing in 15 games and logging 14 combined tackles.

Listening to the way head coach Pete Carroll and the rest of the Raiders organization discussed the Wilkins situation suggested that they did not agree with how he was handling himself behind the scenes.

Leki Fotu and Adam Butler are projected to be the starters at defensive tackle with Wilkins out of the picture, and while Coburn is a nice addition, it’s hard to fully digest such a seismic move during this time of the year.

Wilkins was one of the most dominant interior linemen in the NFL prior to last season, and replacing him is not going to be easy.

Packers Claim Veteran Running Back

The Green Bay Packers raised some eyebrows when they gave Josh Jacobs a four-year contract last offseason, as the team doesn’t often spend big on free agents, so it was surprising to see them open the vault for a running back, of all things.

Jacobs proved to be worth every penny, and although he has been among the most durable backs in the NFL in recent years, there is still a need to make sure there is insurance around him in case he needs a breather or does get injured at some point.

That is why Green Bay recently added a veteran running back.

“The Packers [have been] awarded running back Israel Abanikanda off waivers from the San Francisco 49ers, per a league source,” Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston wrote on X.

The Packers showed some interest in Abanikanda prior to the 2023 NFL Draft, when he was selected in the fifth round by the New York Jets.

Abanikanda appeared in six games for the Jets as a rookie, rushing 22 times for 70 yards.

He didn’t appear in a regular-season game in 2024, and he’ll now try to crack the active roster with his third club.

Jacobs is slated to be the starter, and not only is Emanuel Wilson set to be his backup after a strong breakout campaign, MarShawn Lloyd is back in the mix after appearing in one game last season.

It’s going to be difficult to make the active roster weekly, but Abanikanda can serve as a depth piece to give fans comfort knowing that the team is in good hands if someone goes down.

Saquon Barkley Gives Honest Thoughts On Bijan Robinson

Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley laid his claim to the title of best running back in the NFL last season, setting an NFL record with 2,504 rushing yards, including the postseason, when his new team won the Super Bowl.

There’s not much room for debate, but if anyone else in the league can take the title from him, it could be Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson, who has lived up to the hype of being the No. 8 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Barkley recently had high praise for Robinson.

“There’s nobody who’s able to cut like Bijan in the NFL. There’s not. You can go argue with your mom about that. Trust me. I love myself and I think I have great cuts. There’s nobody,” Barkley said, via Dov Kleiman.

It’s good to see a player as talented as Barkley hyping up his peers, especially when it comes to running backs, who have started to band together against the notion that they shouldn’t receive big contracts.

Barkley and Derrick Henry being worth every dollar they have been paid in recent years is going a long way toward forcing teams to reconsider the idea that you can’t build a championship roster around a highly paid running back.

If Robinson continues on his current trajectory, he could find himself resetting the market.

He stepped into more of a featured role for the Falcons last season and posted 1,887 scrimmage yards and 15 touchdowns, playing in all 17 games for the second consecutive year.

There is no ceiling on how good Robinson can be, and it would be tough to dispute the claim Barkley made about him being the best cutter in the league.
