The Kansas City Chiefs have been the team to beat in the AFC since Patrick Mahomes took over as the starter.

Mahomes and the Chiefs have been seemingly unstoppable at times during this run, especially when their defense has matched the intensity and level of their offense.

While the Chiefs have been fantastic in years past, their start to the 2025 season has been less than ideal.

The Chiefs are 0-2 for the first time under Mahomes’ reign, and as Bleacher Report noted on X, this is the first time Mahomes has been 0-2 since high school.

This is an indicator of how well Mahomes played in college and in the NFL to this point, but this could also be a sign that things aren’t going as well as they used to in Kansas City.

The Chiefs’ schedule was brutal to start the year, facing the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 1 and the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 2, but it’s no excuse for starting slow.

Kansas City does get some help, as they are playing the New York Giants in Week 3 and should get an opportunity to get right and back on track, but their schedule doesn’t ease up after that.

They’re taking on the Baltimore Ravens in Week 4, followed by the Jacksonville Jaguars and Detroit Lions.

While the Jaguars haven’t been that scary in the past, they’re looking better through two weeks, so they’re another difficult opponent on the calendar.

Can the Chiefs snap out of their current funk and get back to being one of the most dominant teams in football?
