NFL Insider Reveals Concerning Stat About Justin Jefferson

The Minnesota Vikings‘ offense looked great in Week 3.
However, context matters, and they didn’t have to do much against the lowly Cincinnati Bengals.
If anything, they relied on two defensive scores to get the job done.
Notably, things won’t be as easy going forward.
With that in mind, they will have to rely heavily on their best player.
That’s why it’s concerning to watch that he hasn’t been as dominant lately.
As pointed out by Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk, Justin Jefferson hasn’t had a 100-yard receiving game since last December:
“Justin Jefferson continues to be one of the best receivers in football. He hasn’t had a chance to reconfirm it lately. Including last year’s playoff loss, Jefferson has gone six games without a 100-yard receiving performance. It’s the longest such stretch of his six-year career. He’ll try to keep it from extending to seven, when the Vikings face the Steelers in Dublin. Jefferson’s last 100-yard performance came on December 22 in Seattle, when he caught 10 passes for 144 yards and two touchdowns, including the game winner. Since then, he has had 92 yards, 54 yards, 58 yards, 75 yards, 81 yards, and 44 yards,” Florio wrote.
There’s no denying that Jefferson is either the best or second-best wide receiver in the league.
As such, he’s going to draw a lot of defensive attention.
Of course, that can also take a toll on his production, and that doesn’t mean he’s not making an impact.
If anything, he opens up way too many lanes for everybody else.
Even so, he’s an elite weapon, and they need to use him as such.
Getting him going will be crucial to J.J. McCarthy’s development once he gets back on the field.
The young signal-caller out of Michigan hasn’t looked sharp in the beginning of his career, and perhaps trusting his best weapon early and often will be just what he needs to get on track.
This is an odd streak for a player of Jefferson’s caliber.
And even though it’s not alarming enough to be concerned, it will certainly be something worth keeping a close eye on.
