Minnesota Vikings’ wide receiver Justin Jefferson has gotten off to one of the best starts of any receiver in NFL history with 7,432 yards and 40 touchdowns over 77 games through his first five seasons.

Vikings fans couldn’t ask for more from their star wideout, but former legendary Vikings receiver Randy Moss recently had high praise for Jefferson and believes there is another level he can go to.

During a recent interview, Moss said that Jefferson is on pace to be the “greatest ever” and said he wants to see more of Jefferson “getting in that box.”

“For him to go down as the greatest Viking and WR to ever do it, i need to see more of Justin getting in that box… I think Justin Jefferson is on pace to be arguably the greatest ever and definitely the greatest Viking to ever do it,” Moss said.

He is well ahead of Jerry Rice and Moss himself compared to their receiving yardage totals through five years, so Jefferson truly is off to a start that would put him among the all-time greats if he is able to sustain it.

It was great to see Jefferson stay healthy in 2024 and play in all 17 games after suffering his first injury the year prior and missing seven games.

He also showed that he is capable of adjusting and put up his typical gaudy numbers in his first year without Kirk Cousins at quarterback, and he’ll have to adapt once again in 2025 as Sam Darnold left to sign with the Seattle Seahawks this offseason.

The youngster J.J. McCarthy has been handed the keys to the car and will have to build his own on-field relationship with Jefferson, so it will be an interesting subplot to see how the offense changes with McCarthy under center, if at all.

This is high praise coming from Moss, who is considered by many to be among the top two or three receivers to ever play the game.

To even be mentioned in the same breath as Moss means Jefferson is already in rare territory.
