Despite being one of the most highly touted quarterback prospects coming into the 2025 NFL Draft, Shedeur Sanders experienced an unexpected slide that ultimately landed him with the Cleveland Browns in the fifth round.

This isn’t Sanders’ first encounter with adversity, and many analysts believe this latest challenge could serve as powerful motivation.

Hall of Fame quarterback Warren Moon recently shared some advice for the rookie during an appearance on “Up & Adams.”

“You can’t act like a cornerback when you’re playing quarterback. Quarterback’s a humble position. You’ve got to be respectful, you’ve got to be a leader, you’re the face of the franchise. There’s so much more responsibility that comes along with it. That’s what he has to understand,” Moon said.

The path for Sanders now depends entirely on how he approaches this opportunity.

Moon stressed the importance of maintaining focus, making the most of preseason reps, and using any skepticism as motivation.

He quickly dismissed speculation about Sanders potentially heading to the CFL, noting that the Colorado product belongs in the NFL and has already captured attention across the league.

Moon also highlighted a unique challenge Sanders faces, as his father’s larger-than-life personality as a legendary cornerback doesn’t necessarily align with the humble demeanor typically expected from a franchise quarterback.

Reports suggest Sanders’ draft-day slide wasn’t solely about talent.

Having performed under intense scrutiny throughout his college career, he often delivered when it mattered most.

His unexpected draft journey might ultimately provide the perfect fuel to elevate his game.
