The public opinion of the Green Bay Packers‘ defense has been a whirlwind through the first 11 weeks of the season. After being a primary catalyst in handing the Detroit Lions a loss in Week 1, it felt like this unit could stand up to any team and take them down.

That hasn’t necessarily been the case over the past several weeks. They’ve lost to the Cleveland Browns, Carolina Panthers, and Philadelphia Eagles thus far, and while they beat the New York Giants this week, the defense wasn’t as dominant as one might have hoped.

Micah Parsons can only do so much, as he’s just one player, and the rest of this team needs to start stepping up. Analyst Jacob Morley showcased this on X, particularly calling out Edgerrin Cooper for not pulling his weight in certain areas.

“Edgerrin Cooper is 2nd in the NFL in missed tackles,” Morley said.

For whatever reason, the Packers have historically struggled with missing tackles, especially in recent seasons. Cooper is supposed to be one of their best defenders, but for some reason, he can’t find a way to bring down his guy when the team needs him most.

Matt LaFleur would like to see this area get better for the Packers as a whole, and for a player like Cooper, this is a must moving forward. If not, the Packers could lose more games to inferior opponents and get blown out by top-tier opponents.
